About FLOW! Conscious Dance
FLOW! Conscious Dance invites you to express yourself freely, authentically and completely in each moment. There are no steps to learn; you can’t get it wrong. Your whole being is welcomed and honored. You’re free to focus inward (on your body, sensations, emotions, and whatever arises) as well as to consciously engage with others. It’s a space where you, the dance, and other dancers become one constantly-evolving interconnected creative FLOW!
Dave Hurwit mixes a wide variety of music from different genres with a range of tempos, rhythms and intensities orchestrated with dynamic lighting to create an immersive, engaging and transformative journey. The dance typically has two cycles; each cycle starts with slow music, increases in tempo and intensity, and then slows again. There may be occasional light facilitation, yet participation is always optional. Other guest DJs and teachers typically follow a similar format.
At the end, there is a closing circle for people to share what is present for them and then time for announcements of events and offerings of interest to the community.
Participants are encouraged to dance barefoot unless shoes are necessary for medical reasons. While there’s no talking on the dance floor, there’s a cozy area in the back with cushions and pillows, and a separate room for quiet conversation and connecting.
